About Mark P. DiLallo

I've been obsessed with nature photography since 1995, inspired by a photo safari to Kenya, Africa.

I of course have a wealth of imagery from the mid-Atlantic near my home in Northern Virginia.   But, my travels and galleries also include the Rocky Mountains, Desert Southwest, Florida, Alaska, Main, Canada, Africa, and more.

Published Works

My imagery has been published in Loudoun Magazine, Money Magazine, and Nature's Best Magazine.

At one point, I shot regularly for Loudoun Magazine.  As a nature photographer, the liked to assign me to agrarian subjects such as gardens, farms, B&Bs, parks, equine and dog events.   I even shot for an article on Loudoun Aeromodelers club at Banshee Reeks Park--if you can photo birds, you can shoot RC planes!   My dad joined me on the assignment to Georges Mill Farm depicted here.   Several photos of him were included in the artical...one as he is driving by in an antique car!

I donated a large batch of images to Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.   Those images helped them advocate for their parks and were used on a variety of promotional materials and park maps.  One day, Money Magazine contacted them seeking images for a "best communities to live" piece they were doing.   The park referred them to me and I shot and submitted  an image set.  One image of Algonkian Park was published.  My most lucrative assignment to be sure!

Nature's Best Magazine is most known for its prestigious world-wide photo competition.   Thousands submit images.   They have a huge awards ceremony at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.   The winning images are displayed in a gallery at the museum and are of course published in the magazine.   No, I did not win or even submit an image to the magazine.  Nature's Best sponsored a nature photography expo where my images were amongst many juried in from the six major Northern Virginia camera clubs.  One of my images was featured in article they published covering the event.   I did volunteer once at one of the Nature's Best Awards Ceremonies.   Got to park at the museum, attend the award ceremony, and view the new gallery exhibit of winning images...felt pretty VIP for a volunteer.
